In a follow-up to last week’s service on grace, Eric Kramer looks at the other side of the coin: faith/grace without works is dead. Grace (God at work) compels us and empowers us to do good works that were created for us to do. The key point of today’s message is that Fruit in your life is the proof that Grace has taken root in your heart. When Grace hits your heart you want to serve the God who brought you to life!

On March 18, 2007 we had a small luncheon for those that are new to and/or interested in deepening their relationship with Beyond. Tim Howard hosted an informal time where our Pastor Bert Welch was introduced and an overview of Beyond was given. As the leadership team talked about this meeting we recognized that we still have some work to do in order to share our vision in the best way possible. Look for more clarity on this issue in the coming days and weeks.

In today’s teaching Eric Kramer discusses who’s on the list for heaven. Is it something you do? Does it depend on your friends? Is it what you believe? You may be surprised but there is nothing we can do to earn heaven. In fact, Jesus has done it for you. God’s irresponsible love for us pays the price for our sin, so that we can once again dwell in the presence of our Father who is a holy, righteous God. Heaven is filled with hypocrites and “No Perfect People”. So don’t waste another minute cleaning up and getting “Good”, Jesus says “Come as You Are.”

Reveal - Coming Up for Air

This week we started a new series, Reveal, focusing on how God has taught us things about Jesus. When John the Baptist baptized Jesus, it marked the start of Jesus’ ministry. In this week’s teaching from Matthew 3, Art Morris explores our beliefs about baptism, what it meant in those days and the powerful impact that it still has for believers today. There is a short video clip from Nacho Libre making the point that baptism doesn’t save, it just shows — shows the world where you stand with Christ — watch it on YouTube here.

In our final teaching of our Directions series, Tim Howard calls us to our first communion as we look Upward to God and celebrate his love for us through Jesus. Tech Note:  our annoying hum makes a return appearance for the first several minutes (I know, we’re working on it).
